GTA 6 Is So Big That Other Games Are Getting Out of Its Way
Most games fight for attention on the release calendar. Grand Theft Auto VI appears to be clearing the calendar before it even arrives.
Rockstar has officially scheduled GTA 6 for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game will take players into the sprawling state of Leonida and a modern-day return to Vice City. Meanwhile, several major publishers have reportedly been prepared to delay their own releases rather than compete directly with it.
It is easy to understand why. GTA V originally arrived in 2013, meaning many gamers have spent years waiting for the next main installment. Every trailer, announcement and new release date sends expectations through the roof. We imagine launch night, clear our schedules and prepare to disappear into Rockstar’s next open world—only to feel completely crushed when another delay pushes the game farther away.
At this point, gamers are not merely excited for GTA 6. We are desperate to finally get our hands on it.
Everything Rockstar has shown suggests a massive world packed with characters, vehicles, crime, nightlife and distractions. The final install size and exact amount of gameplay remain unknown, but this does not look like something players will finish over a quiet weekend.
That is why other games may want to delay their release. Even an excellent release could struggle when millions of players disappear into Leonida for weeks—or possibly months.

For gamers planning to silence the phone, cancel unnecessary plans and temporarily abandon normal life, the Attention: Gaming Until Further Notice shirt may become less of a joke and more of an official warning.
After thirteen years, gamers are not planning a weekend in GTA 6. They are preparing to move in.
